In recent years, India's Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPS) announced the "Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047" in 2023, a long-term strategy for the maritime industry. Its goals include enhancing India's presence in the global maritime sector, achieving a top-five world ranking in shipbuilding (currently 11th), and expanding the national merchant fleet. In line with these policies, shipyard expansions and various support measures are underway, and newbuilding projects in India are steadily increasing.
Furthermore, in step with the Indian government's "Make in India" policy, increasing the ratio of local production has become essential, driving growing demand for partnerships with local manufacturers. Shipowners and ship management companies from other countries are also increasingly relocating their operations to India.
Against this backdrop, Semco will participate in the India Marine Equipment Forum organized by the Japan Ship Machinery and Equipment Association (JSMEA).
