The customer consulted us about being able to detect the liquid surface as quickly and accurately as possible when discharging seawater from the ballast tank during cargo handling.

Because ballast water (seawater) is transparent, conventional tank sounding made the liquid surface difficult to distinguish.
As a workaround, chalk was applied to the tape and the level was read from the wetted position, but this measurement was time-consuming.
Furthermore, discharge speed and completion time were calculated based on these measurements, making the operation labor-intensive.
Additionally, when water levels dropped, valve operations were required to adjust discharge speed for pump protection, demanding timely responses.

Developed a portable sounding device with an ultrasonic sensor integrated at the tip of the measuring tape.
It responds to the actual liquid surface even with transparent liquids, enabling quick and accurate liquid level measurement.
Furthermore, by combining it with the Tank App, discharge speed and completion time calculations are automated, and tank liquid levels are visualized.
